Franciscan Montessori Earth School and St. Francis Academy offers computer technology instruction to students beginning in their 4th year. Students practice their keyboarding skills, learn about the parts of a computer, and go on to develop the word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and online research skills they will need in high school and beyond.
Computers are featured in the classroom, in the library, and in a dedicated computer lab.
Additionally, an optional after school Lego Robotics club is available for fourth and fifth years in the fall. It competes in the First Lego League, an extension of FIRST Robotics. The robotics team works to construct and program an autonomous robot to complete the assigned missions. The program focuses on instilling ‘gracious professionalism’ as the teams compete for awards in teamwork, a research project presentation, and robot performance.
