“Where there is charity and wisdom, there is neither fear nor ignorance.”
    -Francis of Assisi

Founded by the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist, the Franciscan Montessori Earth School has been inspiring children to expand their mind, nurture their spirit, and steward the Earth since 1977. Through the academic and experiential learning process developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, and influenced by the spirituality of St. Francis, students are guided to respect themselves, others, and the Earth we share.

Notice of Nondiscriminatory Policy as to Students

The Franciscan Montessori Earth School admits students of any race, sex, color, national and ethnic origin, to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. They do not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of their educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.

Statement of Social Justice

The Franciscan Montessori Earth School declares that racism is morally wrong.  It does not love or respect life.

Our Catholic/Christian social teaching calls us to respect and honor the dignity of every human life.  It makes no exclusions on the basis of color or ethnicity.  We are called to honor and respect the lives of all people.

In response to racism:

  • We must identify within FMES anything that perpetuates racism, and replace it with values that are fair and just, and that value the lives and gifts of every person.
  • Identify our own unconscious racial biases.
  • Dialogue with others to develop a strong sense of community knowing that we are “bearers of peace” as we walk together with open hands and joyful hearts.
