Weekly Parent & Volunteer Updates

Greetings FMES Community,

On the heels of Sister Therese’s announcement of our new Volunteer Coordinator, Romila Kim, this will be my last weekly update as your current coordinator. It has been my pleasure and privilege to serve this community as a whole and, most especially, all of the wonderful FMES parents! I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in this role and getting to know and work with all of you. I am confident that Romila is the perfect person to carry the torch and will take the volunteer program to new heights! My deepest thanks for all the well wishes I have received and for the concern over my health! I am on the mend and should be back to normal very soon. 🙂 I look forward to continually serving our community as a parent volunteer for many years to come!

Things are quiet at the volunteer desk right now, but Spring is here and volunteer opportunities will abound in May & June! Here is a quick look at what’s ahead:

April:

Grandparents & Special Friends Day (April 27th from 2 PM-4 PM): Many thanks to Joel Broussard and Laura Aguon for volunteering to spearhead this event and make it a wonderful afternoon for our visitors!

May:

Staff Appreciation Week (May 1-5): An email was sent to all of the Room Reps today with details about this event and how you can get involved. Be watching your email for further communication from your Room Rep. Many thanks to Christina Master, Heather Roney & Marie Callerame for coordinating this wonderful week of gratitude for our staff!

Spring E2s: These events are great ways to earn Fair Share hours and for you to fully immerse yourself in your child’s Montessori education! I encourage all parents to volunteer to chaperone, drive gear, coordinate food/meals, etc… Check with your guide and/or assistant to see how you can help.

Bridal Veil Workday: Saturday, May 20th from 9 AM-1 PM. Details to follow.

Spring Gardening Work Parties: Our school grounds will need some love in preparation for summer, so watch for announcements about weekend gardening days.

June:

Spring Field Day (June 16th): This event was a HUGE success last year and will be returning this year for a 2nd go-round! Romila will take over the planning of this event and will be sending communications in the next few weeks about forming a committee.

***Please note….if you took home any of the black tablecloths and/or napkins from the auction for laundering, we kindly ask that you return them ASAP. We are still missing quite a few.

Thanks everyone! Have a wonderful Spring and I will look forward to seeing you around the FMES halls very soon!

All my best,

Rachel
